On July 6th, the Shotgun Committee put on our first Shotgun Range Fun Shoot of 2024 and it was a great success.
We had 14 shooters come out, who each shot a round of Trap, Skeet and two rounds of 5-Stand Sporting Clays. The weather was great for shooting, and all participants enjoyed shooting familiar disciplines as well as shooting disciplines they rarely, if ever, shoot
When the squads had concluded shooting all four of their rounds, we tabulated those scores and gave our top 4 overall scores these beautiful trophies manufactured by Double H Machine Shop of Rocky Mountain House, along with some prizes:
Each participant was given a raffle ticket for a Hunting Blind prize at the end of the shoot. We loaded random pink targets in our machines, that–if successfully shot–would earn an extra raffle ticket for the draw. It was great fun too see our shooters get excited and try hard to break a pink clay when thrown.
Following the trophies and prizes, we did some fun shoots, including a 75 target flush at the Sporting Clays range, with 7 shooters occupying all our stands, shooting at a flurry of thrown targets. This provided a lot of laughs for us. We then did a teams-of-two 30 target flush, which saw the 1st place team hit 15 out of 30. Not as easy as some thought.
The feedback from participants of our shoot was overwhelmingly positive, and the committee is looking forward to putting on at least one more event this season, likely in mid-August (stay tuned).
